It’s the veneers prep stage that may worry people. Your teeth will need to be shaved down during the prep stage, but it really just depends on your specific situation. Most of the time, shaving your teeth down is required, however there is minimal prep.

The purpose of shaving your natural tooth is to ensure your veneers appear as natural as possible by not ‘jetting out’. Thus shaving your natural teeth, makes room for the porcelain facings to bond to your teeth.

How long do porcelain veneers last?

Porcelain veneers are permanent, but they’re not forever. Veneers that are well done could last for about 15 to 20 years, at which point they’ll need to be replaced.
